Northern Ohio ABC Committees
Every year NOCABC holds
their annual Planning Conference. This Planning Conference is
designed to bring members together to discuss the past years events and
goals, which ones were met, and to find out what is needed for the
coming year. Below you will find a description about each
committee and information about the meetings and the decisions that were
made to better the Northern Ohio Chapter ABC and its members.
Administrative Committee
Budget & Finance Committee
The committee monitors ABC's financial resources and performance, and
evaluates budget assumptions. It focuses on ways to assist the chapter
in its financial reporting and analysis. It reviews proposals and
performance of auditors and investment advisors. It reviews and advises
on financial policies and procedures.
Government Affairs Committee
Government Affairs Committee
The committee is responsible for the activities of the Political Action
Committee, Opportunity Ohio, Legal Rights and Strategy and Legislative
Issues. The purpose of the committee is to oversee and assess the
Government Affairs Division resources and opportunities for advancement
to best promote and assist the merit construction industry and the
association. The committee provides recommendations for areas in which
ABC should focus more closely, expand its efforts or narrow its
involvement. It ensures that all activities of government affairs are in
harmony with each other and that they avoid duplication of effort.

Services Committees
Business Development Committee
The purpose of the Business Development Committee is to improve the
business climate for merit shop construction and to create business
opportunities for ABC members by becoming the recognized resource for
construction users. Activities include developing programs to encourage
owners to use merit shop contractors’ services; assisting members in
implementing successful business development programs; developing
programs to help members gain work from each other; communicating in a
positive manner with owners and buyers on a regular basis; recognizing
and publicizing outstanding merit shop construction projects through the
Excellence in Construction awards program, and providing members with
information to help them in their own marketing efforts.
Membership Growth Committee
The committee is composed of member representatives from throughout the
Northern Ohio region and takes a proactive approach to encouraging all
members of ABC to recruit new members for the association and assist in
activities encouraging existing members to renew.
Western Region Committee
The committee is composed of members in the western region of the
Northern Ohio Chapter area. This committee is charged with leadership in
all facets of operations and programs in the region in order to assist
ABC staff in better delivering services to members in the western
region.
Workforce
Development Committees
Continuing Education Committee
This committee is charged with meeting the needs of ABC members
in the areas of management, supervisory and executive staff
education and professional development, as well as skill
enhancement training for craft professionals. The committee is
made up of contractor member representatives throughout Northern
Ohio’s region.
Safety, Environment & Health Committee
The mission of the Safety Committee is to provide leadership and
direction to ABC’s members regarding safety, environmental and
health issues. The committee’s goals are to save, protect and
enhance the lives of workers and the community; to bring about a
renewed commitment to safety and health in the construction
industry; and to increase the productivity and competitiveness
of ABC member companies by offering a full menu of safety
programs to ABC members.
Apprenticeship Committee
The committee supports craft and apprenticeship training
delivery by ABC. The committee is made up of contractor member
representatives. The committee is charged with oversight of the
Apprenticeship Program, promoting new methods and models of
training, providing support to members in obtaining outside
funding sources for training. This includes Workforce Investment
Act and partnering opportunities and promoting training through
marketing and partnerships.
