NOCABC Award Winners

National ABC’s Excellence in Construction Competition
Congratulations to:

Bay Mechanical and Electrical for its entry of The Bellevue Hospital project, our local “Project of the Year”, which earned a national award of merit.

Charles Construction for its entry of The Owens State Community College Findlay Campus project which earned a national award of merit.

National ABC’s STEP Award (Safety Training and Evaluation Process)
Congratulations to:

Clouse Construction for a national award of merit in recognition of its excellent safety program.

Awards will be presented at the March 2006 convention in Las Vegas, NV. This is truly an accomplishment and the national recognition our member companies will receive is well deserved.

Local Craft Championship Competition

ABC’s Local Craft Championship was held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 in our Broadview Heights training facility. Apprentices who received the highest scores on their written tests were invited to compete for prizes and the chance to represent our Northern Ohio Chapter at the National Competition in Las Vegas. First-place winners who will represent our chapter in Las Vegas from March 15-19 are:

• Carpentry: Matthew Yedlick (CJY Construction)

• Electrical: David Clarke (Bay Mechanical and Electrical)

• HVAC: Edward Baird (Cleveland Metroparks)

• Plumbing: Joel Schmucker (Bill Miller Plumbing & Heating)

Competitors in each trade will compete against the best of the best in the country Scores will be based on various categories, including general safety, quality of workmanship and overall understanding and construction of the project.
